“When the smoke clears I will only speak beauty… When the smoke clears I will only hear beauty… When the smoke clears I will only see beauty.” ~ Cree Smudging Ceremony
In my youth I had many wonderful opportunities to take part in smudging ceremonies as blessings and reminders of our connection to one another and to the earth. Growing up in a small northern town surrounded by boreal forest I learned the value of taking note of the animals that surround us at a very young age.As a child I heard many stories about the importance of animals as messengers who can teach us so many things about ourselves and the world around us. As meditation and prayer can help us listen to that still voice inside, these messengers also guide us when we begin to pay attention to our surroundings.
Having the privilege of working on this year-long labor of love, I remembered nature and the wild animals I had connected with in my life. By paying close attention we can find our own personal guides to help us along on our journey in this life who teach us to find the best in ourselves and in others.
