Today my eldest returned to university and though I will miss her terribly, I am also very excited for her year ahead and am glad to be able to focus on painting number 35 of the 52 Weeks Project during this transition.
These are the times I am grateful to paint and this week my focus was on the Canada lynx as the totem keeper of secrets...not in a negative way, but rather in the way that we each need to learn to find those secrets we hold deep in our own hearts.
The term 'lynx' comes from the Greek meaning light or brightness which refers to the luminescence of the animal's reflective eyes. To me, this feels almost holy, that spirit within us type of guidance. You know, how we each carry within us the resources to do what we need to, what we should, what we love but don't always listen? Well, this is my tribute to those times that we actually do.
