We had one day of sunshiine yesterday in between many gray rainy days so I took advantage of it and painted outside which was amazing though it is always difficult to keep the acrylics wet when they sit in the sun. It's back to gray again today so I'm very glad I took advantage of the reprieve. I had a wonderful trip to High River (as always) and it was such a treat to meet another patron of my work. I really am grateful for the support I have received on this journey as a creative for without it would be much more difficult to continue to learn and grow, though I know I would do this regardless as I can't not. I'm working on another project and article, one that has been stewing for awhile, and though I cannot take my 5 foot canvas outside (well, maybe I could but it would be a challenge) I was happy to be able to work on something else for a day.
Today I have an all day meeting, and those who know me can attest to the fact that I really, really dislike meetings, especially the longer ones, but I am grateful to spend the day with a group of people whom I admire and enjoy spending time with...they make me happy. It's also my husband's 44th birthday and our youngest daughter has planned a weekend of fun for us all - starting with dinner tonight and then a day at the Crossroads Market for homemade perogies and cabbage rolls like mama made (delish!) and the 10th annual Calgary Herald Book Sale which is a FABULOUS massive fundraiser which this year will be in support of the Raise-A-Reader program. As busy as my calendar looks over the next month as my eldest daughter is graduating and I am working on a few art programs for the Summer Reading Program at the library along with my own exhibits, I am absolutely thrilled to have this weekend to spend just with my family.
