MAKING YOUR MARK A blank canvas can be intimidating, which is why I began covering my canvases with a colourful ground. In this workshop I will share my painting process along with some of my favourite tools – stencils, stamps, brayers and palette knives – to create a background and begin a painting. I have found that in this way there are no mistakes, only opportunities to have fun and play with colour and pattern. It’s a great way to loosen up and prepare for the ‘drawing’ stage followed by painting. Just bring a canvas (larger is better), paint, brushes, palette, water dish, a rag and an open mind. |
