honouring the lives + stories of women

Everyone has inside of her a piece of good news. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be, how much you can love, what you can accomplish, and what your potential is.

Nasty Women Update...

, 2-4 pmFirst, I want to say how grateful I am that my daughters & I have great men in our lives...this project isn't about trashing good men but, instead, I felt compelled to honour the great women I know.

Twenty-four inspiring and intimidating days have passed and I'm so glad I embarked on this journey. I feel honoured to have the trust of so many women.

To be honest, I have been moved to tears on several occasions...between viewing the beautiful faces on my studio wall and receiving words of encouragement and support plus seeing the work being shared online, I cannot even begin to express how much it means to me.

Creating and sharing artwork really is a scary prospect in itself and that has certainly multiplied while painting people I know. I really want to remain true to the subject but, at the same time, be true to my personal artistic voice. So I thank you all for this.

I also wanted to address a few questions...

How I choose the daily portraits:
The images, canvas backgrounds, and quotes are basically selected at random which has been so interesting to see how they work so fluidly together. At any given moment I tend to work back and forth between 2 or 3 portraits because there are a number of layers which require drying time in between. The first portrait completed is the one to be posted for the day.

Please feel free to copy and share any of the images or information.
