"Rather than one large collodion plate being used to produce one image of the posed subject, Andre Adolphe Eugene Disdéri’s design initially exposed ten images on one plate, either simultaneously or in sequence."
“The artist’s world is limitless. It can be found anywhere, far from where he lives
or a few feet away. It is always on his doorstep.” – Paul Strand I'm excited to be on the home stretch, well, about the last third, of this project with only 20 more portraits to go. And I cannot wait to share them at the ASA Gallery in September & October so I have to work hard the next 2 months. I love seeing this project grow and am so happy with the acrylic paint provided by Tri-Art Manufacturing. The colours are fantastic, the paints wonderful to work with, and, best of all, they don't bother my husband. Yay!
I'm thrilled to share that the 'Mastrius Women' project will be exhibited during my Artist Residency at the ASA Gallery on the 2nd floor of the Crossroads Market in Calgary in September and October. I will be working on my next series titled 'Women of the West' and will focus on research of historical Alberta female artists and creating larger watercolour portraits of these women. I will be at the gallery each week from Wednesday to Saturday from 10am until 3pm and everyone is welcome anytime.
LIVE PANEL: THE MASTRIUS WOMEN PROJECT: THE POWER OF CONNECTION BETWEEN WOMEN
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26TH 12–1pm MDT 2–3pm EDT 7pm–8am BST FREE REGISTRATION: https://www.mastrius.com/product/live-panel-the-mastrius-women-project-the-power-of-connection-between-women/ Today is my birthday and I have so much to celebrate...particularly the fact that I'm down to the last 1/3 of Mastrius Women to paint! Tomorrow I will be joining Julie Deboer online with Mastrius.com to talk about this project & about working in series. Besides my family, nothing brings me as much joy as seeing the faces of so many inspiring, beautiful women on my studio wall.
In my next newsletter I am giving away a small batch of watercolours. Though they are student grade, they are still vibrant and mix well as Winsor & Newton does have a long history of making paint (since 1832) being created by a scientist and an artist and, because of their consistent professionalism, were awarded the Royal Warrant initially by Queen Victoria.
