It's nice to see April 1 on this 52 WEEKS PROJECT. It seems we're in the midst of snow and sunshine so I wanted to capture a snowy owl while we're still experiencing winter in these parts. I've also been wanting to incorporate a Haida moon as I am a moon child, born in June.
When I was a young girl a friend's father came upon an injured snowy owl on a moonlit wintry night while traveling down a northern road. He was a kind man and gently placed the owl in his vehicle in order to bring it to Manitoba Conservation Wildlife for healing. I remember thinking that it was massive, much bigger than me at the time, with a wingspan of over 4 feet. As a totem animal, it is the symbol of the feminine and the moon and is associated with prophecy and wisdom. I like that. Comments are closed.
