Liquitex

Most people know of my love of Liquitex products...and yet, years ago when I began working with artist quality paints, I shied away from these.  They brought back memories of my mom experimenting with liquid embroidery in the 1970's so I had this notion that they wouldn't be of any great quality.  I've tried almost everything since but now I have used these products for fifteen years and am never disappointed.  Though I do prefer heavy body paints, in the past few years I have begun to try out other items such as the soft body acrylics, acrylic markers, spray paints and now inks (which I love so far!).  And I recently stumbled upon these tiny 22ml tubes (on the left) which fit beautifully into my pochade.  They will be fantastic for travelling this summer.

Veronica, I've always been a Golden girl myself but this past winter have been reacting badly to, certainly all their mediums but also, acrylics as well. I've tested a bunch of companies and find Liquitex less reactive. Go figure!

My question ... do you buy your paints locally? or do you have an online source? (Canadian? she asks hopefully)

Btw, I love your blog. And really should comment more. Using readers makes this whole interactive experience, less so. I will try to be better about that!

Hey Jen...My family reacts to Golden as well and not to Liquitex. I purchase my supplies locally (Inglewood Art Supplies in Calgary) and online (Opus Art Supplies out of Vancouver) and tend to stock up when they're on sale. I also hit our local Michaels in Airdrie when there is a great deal even if I can only pick up one tube at a time. I hope that helps...and thank you for your kindness - it is always appreciated!
